MONDAY MUSIC SHARE: Sucre - You and Me (Penny and the Quarters)
Thank God for Nylon and how it updates me on new music. This week’s Monday Music Share comes from the Texas makeshift band of sorts, Sucre (Stacy DuPree of Eisley, Darren King, and Jeremy Larson). It’s a beautiful, catchy cover of the ’70s classic tune "You and Me" from Penny and the Quarters.
Today is a little unique since it’s sort of the last day of a 3-day weekend and the beginning of a new week. Best of both worlds I guess! I’m making no sense. It’s OK.
Anyways, I wanted to pass this video on to you guys. I saw it featured on Nylon Magazine recently. This band is one of the cool callbacks that I have in life because they actually performed for the RELEVANT Podcast back in 2009. And that evening a few of us went to The Social and saw them live. Not only were they incredibly cool but their music is pretty rad.
I believe they’re on a new label right now and are preparing to release their next album. Fall in Love is their first single off of it … it’s sort of like smooth jamz or something. I don’t know, I kind of like it.
MONDAY MUSIC SHARE: Johnnyswim - “Home” (Live at WFUV)
It’s been forever since I’ve done a Monday Music Share. Seriously … three months. I kind of suck.
But anyways, it’s never too late to jump-start the series. And what better way to do it than with Johnnyswim. If you’re a fan of the acoustic, folksy rhythms of the likes of The Lone Bellow and Avett Brothers, you’ll like them.
Enjoy! If you want more, you should also check out Don’t Let It Get You Down … it was either that song or this one. Both great.
